Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be a member to attend?

Absolutely not. We welcome anyone who is searching for a sense of reconciliation with God or needs a community of faith for any reason.

How do I make a prayer request?

During worship, please feel welcome to make any audible requests along with other members of the congregation, or write them on a guest form and place it in the offering plate.

During the week, call our church office (973) 473-4107. Requests will be forwarded to the pastor and to our Thursday night prayer group. Or e-mail us now at prayer@passaicpresbyterian.org

Do I have to be a member of this church (or a Presbyterian) to take communion?

Definitely not. All you have to do is love and attempt to follow Jesus. That is all any of us can claim.

How do I make friends?

Stop by our coffee hour periods before and after worship services. There are always people who want to get to know you. We have special events all the time. Check our church bulletin or the calendar page of the website for details.

Where should my children be?

Your children are welcome to remain with you during worship. We are very tolerant of the noise they might make. For your convenience, there is also a nursery for infants and toddlers located at the rear of the sanctuary. Ask an usher for details.

How can I become a member?

We offer classes a few times each year that will prepare you to make a public confession of your faith and a commitment to this congregation.  The classes cover basic Christian beliefs, Presbyterian history and practice, and an introduction to this specific congregation.  The classes are scheduled at times convenient for those expressing interest.

Who can be baptized?

Adults who have never been baptized and are ready to make a public confession of faith in Jesus Christ can be baptized, as well as the infants and children of members.  The Board of Elders (Session) will consider all requests.  Contact Pastor Ray for details.

Can I be married in the church building?

Yes.  We are honored to help couples celebrate a lifetime commitment to one another.  Contact the church office for a booklet outlining our wedding policy.

Do you perform same-sex unions?

Yes.  We honor the commitments all couples make in the name of Christ.  Contact the church office for details.
